If I Was Decorating Your Home… These Are the 3 Things We’d Absolutely Be Doing

As an interior designer turned content creator, I get asked all the time: “What would you do if you were decorating my house?” Well, if I had full creative freedom, here are the three must-haves I’d incorporate into your home to make it feel stylish, layered, and timeless.

1. Wallpaper, Please 🎨

Whether it’s covering an entire room, adding drama to a ceiling, or creating a bold accent wall, wallpaper is one of the most impactful design choices you can make. And for 2025? It’s everywhere. From subtle textures to moody florals and modern geometrics, wallpaper instantly elevates a space. It gives personality, charm, and an editorial look that paint just can’t match.

If you’ve been scared to try it—start small. Powder rooms, entryways, or the back of a built-in bookshelf are great beginner spots.

2. White Kitchens Aren’t Going Anywhere 🤍

I know there’s chatter out there that white kitchens are “out,” but I couldn’t disagree more. A beautifully designed white kitchen will always feel fresh, clean, and timeless. What I love about the 2025 version of a white kitchen is the use of contrast and layers—think polished nickel faucets, unlacquered brass hardware, textured tile backsplashes, and natural wood elements to keep things from feeling sterile.

A white kitchen gives you flexibility and longevity—and let’s be honest, it’s hard to beat the crisp beauty of a well-lit white space.

3. Statement Overhead Lighting ✨

Lighting is one of the most underrated elements in home design, but it sets the entire mood of your space. Overhead lighting isn’t just practical—it’s the jewelry of your home. Whether it’s a sculptural pendant in the kitchen, an oversized chandelier in the dining room, or layered lighting in the living room, good lighting changes everything.

It adds warmth, ambiance, and drama—and it’s one of the fastest ways to make a space feel designer-approved.

Final Thoughts

Designing your home should be about combining function with personal style—but these three upgrades? They’re non-negotiables in my world. Whether you're working with a blank canvas or refreshing your current space, incorporating wallpaper, a fresh take on a white kitchen, and statement lighting will instantly take your home to the next level.
